At Oak Wood Secondary School we pride ourselves on delivering a wide and varied PE programme, focusing on the fundamental skills and movements required to participate in both team and individual sports. We promote all the benefits of sport, personal fitness and the benefits of a healthy lifestyle.
The range of sports we participate in include Football, Netball, Boccia, Cross Country, Tennis, Rugby, Dodgeball, Hockey and Swimming. Each sporting activity focuses on skill base learning (Throwing & Catching, Striking & Fielding) and is tailored to meet individual pupil’s needs, offering accessibility while providing a challenging environment.
As a school throughout the academic year we take part in numerous sporting events both in school or out in the community.
We are partners and participate in the SEND active school games calendar of sport which provides opportunities for our students to participate in competitive sports.
We employ a full time specialist PE sports coach who delivers PE as part of our KS3 & KS4 curriculum offer.
For students in 14-19 Sport is a vocational option, and we work with NWSLC in order that students from Oak Wood Secondary School can have an experience of Sport within a college environment.
