Secondary Makaton Choir sings at Caldwell Grange Lodge

On Tuesday 24th October, Oak Wood secondary school’s Makaton Choir were invited to sing for the residents of Caldwell Grange Lodge Care home. The performers sang and signed 5 songs, including a seasonal Halloween mash up, renditions of Abba’s Mamma Mia and George Ezra’s shotgun and well-known songs from the hit musical ‘The Greatest Showman’. The residents at the care home all complimented their amazing singing, signing and politeness which resulted in teary eyes from the audience towards the end of the show. Following the performance, the students used their fantastic communication skills to engage with the residents and staff and explain why they enjoy singing and what school life is like.

Following an exceptional morning, the choir has been invited back in December to perform Christmas hits and carols which we are sure will create some dancing and smiles from all.
